The following are the steps to understand the complete process adopted by TNEA.

Step 1: Registration for the counselling session

The shortlisted contenders in the engineering entrance exam must complete their registration to partake in the counselling process. Those who qualify for the engineering entrance examination but do not complete their registration will not be allowed to appear for the counselling session.

Step 2: Payment of Fee

Applicants’ registration will only be successful once they have duly submitted the registration fee via any online payment mode. They should be aware that the payment of the fee has to be made before the due date set by the authority. The fee for the general category and the reserved category is listed above.

Step 3: Document Verification

Candidates must present the documents demanded by the authorities to move further in the counselling process. The authorities will check the authentication of the documents presented by the applicants at this stage.

Step 4: Choice Filling

Once the applicant is registered, they have to log in to the official portal of TNEA using their user ID and password, which they used at the time of registration. Following their login to the portal, they have to choose their preferred college or institute and the course of their choice.

Step 5: Choice Locking

After filling in their choice, candidates have to lock their choices finally. No modification is done after choice locking. Following it, the authorities will send a pdf document comprising the list of the choices locked by the candidates to the registered email with the integrity code to restrict the applicants from making any further changes to the choices they submitted.

After the seat allotment, aspirants have the choice of whether to accept, decline or reject the seat offered to them. This is entirely up to the aspirant’s choice.

Step 8: Final Allotment

The final allotment will be done based on the aspirant’s decision on whether to accept or reject the seat allotted. The final seat allotment result will be publicised on the authentic portal of TNEA.

Step 9: Reporting to the College for Admission
