IAS Full Form
Full Form of IAS is the Indian Administrative Service which is the administrative arm of the All India Services and is considered the premier civil service of the country. The other two arms of the All India Services are the Indian Police Service and the Indian Forest Service, and the IAS is the one arm of the three areas of the service of the Government of India.

What is the Meaning of IAS in UPSC
There are three arms of All India Services, among which the Indian Administrative Services is the one. The candidates can choose to become IAS after they pass the Civil Services Exam, which the Union Public Service Commission organises. There are 1 million applicants who apply for the CSE exam conducted by UPSC.
Of these 1 million candidates, only 180 are successful in recruitment as an IAS Officer. Thus, the success rate is only 0.02 percent, which is too low because of the difficulty level of the UPSC Examination. Here UPSC is the commission that organizes Civil Services Examination for candidates who want to serve the nation as an IAS.
IAS Eligibility
A candidate with a minimum age of 21 can apply for the CSE Exam, but they must not exceed 32 years, and the relaxation is within this age limit. You should also have a graduation degree from any recognized university to apply for this exam, and the birth date must be as mentioned in the Higher Secondary certification.
If you don’t clear the exam in the first attempt then don’t worry you have five more attempts so the total attempts are 6 and after this you can’t give the examination. A citizen from India is eligible, but with it, a subject from Nepal/Bhutan or Tibetan refugee & Indian origin migrants from some selected countries are also eligible but with some conditions which are available on the official website.
How to Apply for IAS
If you are willing to serve the nation as IAS Officer, you must check for the notification on the UPSC’s website. This notification is released in the month of February every year, and you have to carefully read it and then apply using the application form available on the official website of the Union Public Service Commission.
Now start the preparation as per the exam schedule, this recruitment has several stages which are Preliminary, Mains, and a Personality Test. After clearing the prelims exam, you must apply for the mains exam and fill in the detailed application form considering the minute details. For the personality test, you must prepare using mock interviews, and if you secure a good rank, you will be selected.
IAS Exam Pattern
The prelims exam of the IAS has two papers, General Studies of 100 questions and another CSAT paper of 80 questions. In general studies questions are asked about subjects like History, Polity, Geography, Science, Economy, and Current Affairs, and in the second paper questions are asked about Maths, Logical Reasoning, and Reading comprehension.
Each paper in the prelims exam will be 200 marks, and the candidates must complete it in 120 minutes. Then after clearing the prelims exam, the contenders have to appear in the main exam, and in it, they have to appear in a total of 8-9 papers. The first two papers are of 300 marks each, and the other papers are of 250 marks each, and it have to be completed in 3 hours.
