Ministry Behind Samudrayaan Mission
Jitendra Singh launched Samudrayaan Mission Matsya 6000 at the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai. The National Institute of Ocean Technology was established in November 1993 as an autonomous society under India’s Ministry of Earth Sciences. NIOT is managed by a Governing Council and is headed by a director.
The NIOT has developed a 6000m depth-rated Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and various other underwater instruments for the exploration of the deep sea, such as the Autonomous Coring System, Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, and Deep Sea Minning System.
